The New Year is traditionally a time to focus on your future. But this year, we are asking you to focus on the future of all San Diegans, and not just for the next year, but the next 50 years!
In addition to setting personal goals this New Year, now through the end of January, you have an opportunity to set goals for the region through Our Greater San Diego Vision.
Together, we can create a 50- to 100-year strategic vision and action plan for the county by sharing our hopes and concerns for San Diego at www.ShowYourLoveSD.org.
San Diego’s population is expected to grow 40 percent in the next 40 years. That’s 1.3 million more people. It’s projected we will need 400,000 more homes and 500,000 new jobs by 2050 to house and employ them.
Where will they live? Where will they work? Where will they learn? Where will they enjoy our communities?
You and all residents have the opportunity to answer these questions and weigh in on the issues that will impact all of us in the future.
Visit www.ShowYourLoveSD.org and begin with one of four modules – Live, Work Learn, and Enjoy.
Choose where you want high-rise towers or one and two story buildings. Choose what types of jobs should be created. Choose how education will meet tomorrow’s needs. Choose which amenities we need to provide for tomorrow.
Begin the New Year by planning the region’s future. It’s one resolution that’s easy to keep.

With the expectation of San Diego growing 40% in the next 40 years, my question is simply put. Since job creation would not necessarily be the force behind the population growth thus a migration to San Diego outside the region, why the high expectation?
