Local Singer Gets Her Golden Ticket on ‘Idol’
Rancho Bernardo High School graduate Kristi Krause wowed American Idol judges in an episode shown Sunday.
Local singer Kristi Krause was back for an encore on American Idol on Sunday, wowing judges for the second year in a row and grabbing a golden ticket to Hollywood.
"I was, like, speechless. Me and my family were just dancing around," Krause, a 2011 Rancho Bernardo High School graduate, said in a video interview on AmericanIdol.com as she described her emotions when she found out she would move on to the next round of the blockbuster singing competition.
Krause, 18, was one of a group of select singers culled from the San Diego round of auditions aboard the USS Midway for American Idol's 11th season. The episode aired Sunday night on FOX. She will move on to the next round in Hollywood. Last year, Krause also moved on from the audition round to Hollywood, but did not make it into the nationwide voting portion of the show.
Check out the teen's video interview where she talks about auditioning, her struggles growing up with Tourette's syndrome and her love of former American Idol contestant and San Diego-native Adam Lambert.
